Big Cruise Ship: Experience how big cruise ships make cruising so exciting

When it comes to booking your cruise holidays, you need to consider the size of the ship as well as where you want it to sail to.

When booking cruise holidays, it can be easy to get carried away by the destination – Med cruises, cruising around America or the Caribbean, exploring Europe or even cruising the British Isles can be an exciting prospect. With every new, exciting and beautiful place you visit comes a host of opportunities. Cruise holidays offer expeditions, treks, diving trips, shopping opportunities, city tours – you name it, cruise holidays have a wealth of things to do to suit all tastes, abilities and inclinations. But with all this excitement, it can be easy to forget about the cruise ship itself when booking cruise holidays.

Cruise Holidays: Is Bigger Better? When it comes to booking cruise holidays, it's easy to think bigger is going to be better. It's true that cruise ships are getting bigger and bigger, and the biggest is Project Genesis from Royal Caribbean due to launch in 2009 and carry 6,400 passengers. It can be hard to imagine how cruise holidays can maintain five star luxury, but it's worth remembering the bigger the boat the more facilities and capabilities to absorb those numbers. Cruise holidays are traditionally popular with elderly holidaymakers due to the fact they are accessible and easy to get around on. With on-board facilities and entertainment, lifts from deck to deck and organised activities, cruise holidays are perfect. But it's worth keeping in mind if you do have mobility problems, that a smaller ship may be more suitable for you – the bigger the ship, the longer the corridors! Cruise Holidays: Small is Beautiful The quality of food and service on cruise liners are not dependent on the size of the ship, but the star ranking: if it's five-star, it will be five-star regardless of how big the boat is. But size can be an issue if you are concerned about meeting people or are a single traveller. Smaller cruise holidays can in fact be better as you're more likely to mix and see familiar faces. But if you're hoping to find romance on the sea, the bigger ships are more likely to offer dedicated singles events.  Cruise Holidays: Facilities and Entertainment  Keep in mind the kind of facilities you want on your cruise holidays. If you're looking for premium restaurants and extensive facilities with large spas, gyms, organised activities, casinos and West End quality shows, the big cruise ships tend to have more round-the-clock entertainment and choice. If you're a family with young children, booking cruise holidays on larger ships is always more likely to keep the kids entertained; the bigger cruises tend to have more to offer for children including children's clubs and children's entertainments on hand, as well as babysitting facilities.  Looking for a Cruise Holiday?
