Wearing the right attire for a cruise trip is a headache for most. While women who naturally love to dress up have it easy, men have a rather tough time coping up with the dress regulations imposed on them. One does really need some basic guidelines to help them set sail with ease for the first time! Here are a few tips for those formal occasions and more:
Formal Nights
Most people dislike the concept of dressing-up while out on a vacation. It is almost like revolting against the conservative way of dressing during work-hours. However it is actually rather refreshing to put on a good suit after spending hours in the sun wearing informal like shorts and shirts. It is almost a method of unwinding oneself, and a great way to end the evening on board. The nights aboard a ship are rather exciting and entertaining with shows lined up after fancy dinners, enjoyed by both men and women and of course, the children. Sometimes there are photographers employed to take pictures of these prized moments, and they can be paid on will.
On Evenings
Unlike formal nights, for nights that are marked out for casual wear, dressing up is not required and is optional. Yet one should always dress in order to avoid awkward circumstances. Shorts, cut-offs or skimpy tops are not allowed. However the same rules are not applicable during the day and one can walk in wearing casuals for breakfast or snacks in the same dining hall wearing casuals! The only restrictions imposed are that of wearing footwear, shirts for men and those women must don a cover-up over their swimsuits. There really is no need to memorize these rules and regulations by heart as they are posted on the doors of the concerned rooms and the cruise-liner staff is always ready to help you out.
During the day
Lazing around on the deck during the day is almost akin to spending time on the beach! So you can just head out with swim-wear being the custom here. Anything is allowed, as long as it is something- while the more daring can check out other cruises that favour them exclusively. Most ladies and men prefer to wear their swimsuits around; however given the temperature of the deck, carrying a pair of sandals around will be a wise decision. You must cover up while visiting the dining hall for breakfast or the buffet for lunch as has been mentioned already.
Freestyle Cruising
An example of this would be the Norwegian Sun which prevents their guests from being hassled by customary norms and regulations. One can eat whenever they like, and in whichever dining room one chooses. You do not have to follow a set routine either. There are two formal nights that are hosted on the deck, but dressing up for this occasion is optional. Unlike most cruise liners, here you may simply choose to dump your tie and suit while vacationing!
